When was York House built?
York House was built by a successful merchant named Andrew York in 1789 and it passed into the hands of Dr Robinson on his marriage to Miss Worth, a daughter of the carpet manufacturing family of that name. He was joined in practice by Dr McArthur in 1933 who continued in practice until 1970 together with the two Dr Mackies. York House was sold in 1962 and No 21, sited on the foundations of the old stable block, became the practice building.
