What type of room should I request at Unity Health?

The pre-admission process is a good time to let staff know what type of room you would like. All Unity Health locations provide standard ward, semi-private and private rooms. There is a cost for semi-private and private room stays which may be covered fully or partially by you or your insurance company.

What to do if you think you or someone who know might have Coronavirus?

Can you use Patient Access on behalf of loved ones?

You can now use Patient Access on behalf of loved ones and those you care for to book appointments, order repeat prescriptions and, where appropriate, view and share medical records.

Can a child have a proxy at a surgery?

For children 11-16 the parent/guardian can continue with proxy access but both the child and proxy must come into the surgery and sign the form in front of reception and bring ID. If the child wishes their own online account then this will be sent to the GP for approval.

How many beds does Unity Hospital have?

Unity Hospital is a 471-bed community hospital in the town of Greece. After a four-year total renovation in 2014, Unity is now the only Monroe County hospital to feature all private patient rooms and free parking. How to prepare for surgery?

If advised by your doctor, take a shower with antibacterial soap the night before surgery and/or the morning of surgery. Follow the instructions of your physician or nurse regarding which medications to take on the day of your surgery. Bring any medications you take on a daily basis with you to the hospital.

What happens during the preadmission process?

You will visit with pre-admission staff, either in person at one of our Unity Health locations or on the phone, who will help to answer your questions, help you complete all your required tests and paperwork, and let you know what you can expect.

Before your surgery, you may visit the Preanesthesia Assessment and Testing Clinic (PATC) at St. Michael’s Hospital or Pre-Admission Clinic at St. Joseph’s Health Centre which could last anywhere from 30 minutes to five hours. During this visit or during the calls:

What to bring to hospital after surgery?

Please ask your family to bring your personal items (clothes and toiletries) after your surgery once you have been assigned a room. If you are unable to have these items brought later, your clothes and other belongings will be transferred to your post-surgery unit. Do not wear or bring the following: Make-up.
