Can the ridings Medical Group discuss my medical information with others?

At the Ridings Medical Group we will never discuss your medical information with someone unless you have given consent for us to do so. As a patient you are able to add third party consent to you record by returning the third party consent form.

Ridings Healthcare is Pittsburg's first completely Direct Primary Care practice. We offer a pattern of family healthcare that is immediate, thorough, comprehensive, specific, easily affordable, and very personalized. It is based on a membership or retainer fee that provides great access to your nurse practitioner - Patty Ridings or her associate when she is away.

Who is Patricia Ridings?

Patricia Ridings is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She usually goes by Pat or Patty. She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She grew up in a large family on a farm in rural Pittsburg Kansas. She and her husband and daughter live in rural Cherokee, Kansas. They have two dogs and a cat.

What is direct primary care?

The terms are often used interchangeably and essentially refer to the same principles. Direct Primary Care is a healthcare model focused on putting the patient first. That means treating them when they need it, never rushing patients through appointments, and being proactive with healthcare treatment plans. The health care provider-patient relationship is just as the name suggests – direct. Direct Primary Care clinics don’t accept insurance, rather they choose to work directly with the patient, providing discounted labs, services, deeply discounted in office medication prices, and other costs savings along the way. Patty will be an advocate for you when referrals or medication prior authorizations for example, are needed.

What does Patty enjoy about direct care?

Patty enjoys getting to know her patients so that is why a Direct Care practice is a perfect fit for her. She also realizes that sometimes a patient just needs a quick evaluation for a current or acute illness and may already have a regular provider. She is glad to help when available for this type of appointment in these circumstances. When not at work, Patty enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and family, and time enjoying music, volunteering and gardening.

What is an appointment for primary care?

The appointments are for routine primary care – they are not out-of-hours, urgent care or minor injuries. Patients may opt for an appointment which requires them to attend their consultation at another practice or location, and may be seen by someone who is not their regular doctor.

What is push appointment?

As of Monday 4th November 2019 we will be offering Push Doctor appointments in the Improving Access Service. These appointments are virtual online appointments where you can speak to a doctor face-to-face without having to leave your home. These appointments are run via your smartphone or tablet with use of a webcam/camera.

Can you book an appointment with a doctor?

Patients will be able to book appointments through their practice either by telephone or in person. All appointments are to be offered on an equal basis. These appointments are pre-bookable, with some on-the-day appointments also available. The appointments are for routine primary care – they are not out-of-hours, urgent care or minor injuries.

Can a GP follow up a consultation?

The person who you see for your appointment will be able to enter all the details about the consultation into your record using the IT system. Your own GP will be able to follow up your consultation if necessary.

Can you offer home visits in the improving access service?

It will not be possible to offer home visits in the Improving Access service.

Is improving access the same as GP?

Improving Access is the same as your regular GP service – it is routine primary care. You may find that you go through the usual triage process with your practice Care Navigator before being offered an appointment to make sure that you see the right person for your needs.

The Information Desk is located to the right on entering the hospital main entrance. The reception area/desk is approximately 3m (3yd 10in) from the hospital main entrance. The reception area/desk is clearly visible from the entrance. There is step free access to the reception area/desk.

As a patient you are able to add third party consent to you record by returning the third party consent form. Please note you may only wish for that person to discuss only certain aspects of your health and record with us (for example just test results) you do not have to give them full access if you do not wish to do so.
