New Court Surgery Repeat Prescriptions Repeat prescriptions can be provided and should be ordered well in advance and not treated as an emergency, unless an unavoidable situation has occurred. Patients on long term medication may obtain repeat prescriptions on request without seeing the doctor.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Patients can order their repeat medication by: 1 Handing in the right hand side of the prescription at the reception desk clearly marking the medicines required 2 If you would like to speak to a dispenser to order your repeat prescription or discuss any queries, the telephone lines are open between 1pm and 3pm Monday to Friday on 016974-73553. 3 Posting in the right hand side of the prescription (along with a stamped addressed envelope) marking the medicines required 4 Completing a blank “repeat prescription request slip” at reception 5 Registering with EMIS Patient Access (please click the above link to order online) and complete the online repeat prescription form. If you are not signed up for this please ask at reception and we will be happy to provide registration paperwork for you. 6 Download the MyGP app. If you are not signed up for this please ask at reception and we will be happy to provide registration paperwork for you. 7 We do have an answer machine which is available to leave requests for repeat prescriptions only outside of the above hours. We deal with all medication requests promptly, and all repeat prescriptions will be ready for collection after 3 full working days. Occasionally, some items may be difficult to obtain so may take a little longer. We will inform you if this is the case.

When collecting any prescriptions, please ensure you have the exemption certificate/card with you relating to the name of the prescription. We cannot hand any prescriptions over to you without payment.

Who reviews medication?

The GP and Practice Nurse will review your medication on a regular basis. This can take the form of a face to face interview, by telephone or may be done whilst reviewing your patient computerised notes. If at any time though you feel you are having problems with your medication, or you would like further information about them please do not hesitate to bring this to the attention of a Dispenser, Practice Nurse or your GP as they will be only too happy to help.

Can a chemist deliver prescriptions to home?

Some of our patients arrange with a local Chemist for their prescription to be collected from the surgery. This can be very convenient and we are happy to facilitate this. You should sort this out directly with the Chemist. Sometimes the Chemist will deliver the medicines to your home (especially for elderly and disabled patients), but this arrangement is entirely separate from the surgery and any queries in regard to this should be taken up with the Chemist.
