How does patient access work for your practice?

For those going into self-isolation, retaining their access to health services is vital." All of our services, content and processes follow a strict set of clinical guidelines, ensuring a safe environment for patient care.

What is in partnership with patient access?

In partnership with Patient Access connects you to local health services when you need them most. Book GP appointments, order repeat prescriptions and discover local health services for you or your family via your mobile or home computer.

What type of cookies are used on patient access?

There are three different types of cookies used on Patient Access; Persistent cookies are used to retain user preferences, relating to a particular website you visit. This can be things like whether you want to be logged in automatically when you visit the website, or whether you've already been asked to take part in a survey for example.

What is a GP consultation?

It is a set of online tools for you to check which service is right for your symptoms, get immediate self-help advice, find out what other services can help you or send an online consultation to your GP practice . It may help manage certain conditions, without the need to attend the surgery in person.

Do GPs have access to medical records?

GPs at your practice personally review all requests and have access to your medical records enabling them to make a safe decision regarding the right course of treatment for you. If they have any doubt, they will ring you or ask you to see them in person.

Does this change my existing GP service?

Yes. You can still make an appointment in the usual way and come in to see your GP if you wish.

What are cookies?

What is virtual appointment?

By booking a virtual appointment , you agree to let us collect, use, or disclose your personal health information through video or audio communications (while following applicable privacy laws) in order to provide you with care . In particular, the following means of electronic communication may be used (phone calls,videoconferencing (What’s app,Facetime, etc.)

Is virtual care a substitute for in person care?

You should also understand that virtual care is not a substitute for in-person communication or clinical examinations, where appropriate, or for attending the Emergency Department when needed (including for any urgent care that may be required).

Is virtual care safe?

We do our best to make sure that any information you give to us during virtual care visits is private and secure, but no video or audio tools are ever completely secure. There is an increased security risk that your health information may be intercepted or disclosed to third parties when using video or audio communications tools.
