What is patient access and how does it work?

Is MyGP same as Patient Access?
Other similar apps are Patient Access and the NHS app. You may have recently received a text message about the new MyGP App that is available to our patients. The Patient Access App is still working, MyGP is just another alternative available for our patients to use if they wish.
Is Patient Access the same as NHS App?
Unlike our current Patient Access system, you can even prove your identity using the App itself without needing to bring any ID to the surgery. If you are already a user of Patient Access, you will be able to access exactly the same information on the NHS App as you currently do on Patient Access.
How do you link surgery to Patient Access?
To do this, you first need to obtain a registration letter from your new practice. The details on the letter will enable you to link to them and continue using Patient Access. You would use this same process if you have been registered as a proxy user for a patient or relative, and already use Patient Access.

The Patient Access app is available on the iOS and Android app stores for free. You can also access the website at www.patientaccess.com. You will need to register for Patient Access either online, if your practice allow this, or by asking for a registration letter from your practice.

Can you use a fingerprint scanner on NHS?
If your device supports fingerprint detection or facial recognition, you can use it to log in to the NHS App each time, instead of using a password and security code.
