How do I get patient access to the surgery?

Come to the Surgery IN PERSON and provide photo ID so we can confirm your identity and the receptionist will then issue you with a username and password. Using your computer; go to Patient Access (Patient access link is on the right hand side) and enter your registration details exactly as shown on the form.

How do I access my Patient Access app?

The Patient Access app is available on the iOS and Android app stores for free. You can also access the website at www.patientaccess.com. You will need to register for Patient Access either online, if your practice allow this, or by asking for a registration letter from your practice.

What is Patient Access website?

Patient Access is a website and mobile app which gives you access to a wide range of GP services, such as ordering repeat prescriptions; booking appointments; and access to your medical records*. You can download the app for free in Google Play or the App Store.

Is MyGP same as Patient Access?

Other similar apps are Patient Access and the NHS app. You may have recently received a text message about the new MyGP App that is available to our patients. The Patient Access App is still working, MyGP is just another alternative available for our patients to use if they wish.

Can I see my NHS records online?

What is the difference between the NHS app and the Patient Access app?

Unlike our current Patient Access system, you can even prove your identity using the App itself without needing to bring any ID to the surgery. If you are already a user of Patient Access, you will be able to access exactly the same information on the NHS App as you currently do on Patient Access.

Is myGP app the NHS app?

The myGP app, created in 2014, is an NHS-assured provider of online access to primary care medical services. They were granted NHS assurance in 2019, certifying them as a secure and recognised place for patients to access healthcare services, including medical record access.

Does Patient Access still work?

Yes. You can quickly and securely give temporary access to your medical record. The shared record will be available for 24 hours via a unique link and secured using an access code. The option to Share Record , is under Medical Record on the dashboard.

The Patient Access Marketplace is also provided by EMIS.

You (the patient) and the person acting on your behalf will need to complete a form – please contact reception.

The GP is concerned that the chosen person will not keep the information safe.

What is proxy access?

Proxy access refers to access to online services for somebody acting on behalf of you (the patient) with your consent.

When can a child be a proxy user?

When a child is not deemed to have the competency and is over the age of 13, a parent may apply for access without the child’s consent and will be registered as a proxy user.

Can a patient choose online services?

You (the patient) can choose the online services you want the person acting on your behalf to have access to. The choice of online services is usually booking appointments, ordering repeat medication, and looking at GP records.

Can you grant access to more than one person?

Access can be granted to anyone of your (the patient’s) choice – e.g a family member, partner, carer, etc and you can grant access to more than one person.

Can a GP refuse access to a patient?

There may be times when a GP could refuse the chosen person access. Whilst this is rare, the GP will always put the best interests of you (the patient) first. The GP will discuss any refusal with you or in the case of impaired capacity, with their representative.

On weekdays 6.30 pm – 8 am and throughout the weekends and Bank Holidays, you can contact the Out of Ours GP service via NHS111 – all you need do is dial 111 and you will automatically be transferred to a call handler. They will take your details, or details of the patient if you are calling on behalf of somebody else.
